DEPARTMENT OF ELECTRIC AND ENERGY
ELECTRIC PROGRAMME
QUALIFICATION AWARDED
The students are awarded with Associate Degree in Electric Programme after completing all requirements of curriculum programme successfully and fulfilling all other requirements of graduation.
SPECIFIC ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS
The students' admission to Higher Education is based on a nation-wide Student Selection Examination (ÖSS). The examination is held once in a year and administered by the Student Selection and Placement Center (ÖSYM). The candidates are registered to Higher Education Institutions according to their examination scores and their high school grade point averages.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
There is no limitation on the maximum period of study.
RECOGNITION OF PRIOR LEARNING
The students of our university have the right to request the recognition of prior learning from their previous universities. For the recognition of their prior learning, they should submit their transcript and course contents to the relevant department in the first semester of registration year.
HISTORY
Department of Electric and Energy, Electric Programme was found officially in 1989-1990 Academic Year (Dokuz Eylül University, Muğla Vocatinal School).
PROFILE OF THE PROGRAMME
After completing Associate Degree programme; Students can install direct and alternating circuits, measure basic electrical parameters, perform skills of installation of electrical machines, capable of drawing electrical installation plans and making application. The graduate students gain the skills of computer aided design and industrial automation system installation and maintanence. They know how to analyze and instal the electricity generation, transmision and distribution systems, digital and power electronics. They acquire a general knowledge of transducers and installation of related systems and practical skills of maintenance and installation of home appliances. Our students are closely familiar with the occupational health and safety and could successfully participate in team work.
PROGRAMME OUTCOMES
Electricity is a transferring system of energy which is produced from primary sources such as, hydro, nuclear, thermal, wind, solar, etc.. It can be transferred effectively and appropriately to supply energy system. By using electrical system, energy can transported to the long distances and it can be changed to desired form of energy for using like as cooling, heating systems. Therefore, the electricity will be the most important energy form in future. It will be used in heating, cooling, lighting, industry, entertainment sector etc. So, the increasing usage of electricity will be caused to the necessity of qualified person who has expertise in this area.
The purpose of this programme is provinding the students with knowledge of generating, transmitting and distributing of electricity, plant maintenance, developing plant design projects and running systems and other related issues. The programme aims to educate the qualified and exclusive technique stuff that can be demanded by electrical industrial companies.
EXAM REQULATION & ASSESMENT & GRADING
Oral examination, homework, projects or laboratory works are taken into consideration in the evaluation of course grading. As for the assessment of the examinations; 40% of one midterm exam and/or other studies which can be replaced instead of mid-term exam results take into consideration and the contribution of the final exam to the course grade is 60%. The teaching staff conducts the research projects regarding the students' study fields in order to encourage their students in expanding knowledge. The students should submit the relevant excuse document and application letter in the first day of finishing final examination in order to be entitled to take an excuse exam.
GRADUATION REQUIREMENTS
To succeed in the programme, the students should complete successfully all courses (optional and compulsory) and average grade must be 2.0 out of 4.
OCCUPATIONAL PROFILES OF GRADUATES
The graduated students have the opportunity to work in generating and distributing energy companies, manufacturing energy based technology firms, and maintenance services. They can be employed in the environmental production firms in both public or private sectors.
ACCESS TO FURTHER STUDIES
If the graduated students succeed in Vertical Crossing Exam (DGS conducted by ÖSYM), they have the opportunity to complete a bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Energy Systems Engineering, and Physics Engineering.

HISTORY
Muğla Vocational School, Alternative Sources of Resources Technology Programme has started training with 30 students in 2013-2014 Academic Year.
PROFILE OF THE PROGRAMME
Nowadays, the importance of energy is increasing dramatically. That's why; the environment is effected by this phenomenon significantly. It is time to realize how we destroy the environment and we try to change our energy sources with the peaceful, clean and renewable energy sources. There is another important factor which is the saving energy with precautions in different energy usage areas. Energy is the most important element of economical growing and social developing and it plays an important role in increasing life standards. The sustainable and determined growing depends on continuous and high quality energy sources.
Unfortunately, natural energy sources such as solar, wind, geothermal energy use are still limited. The main purpose of the present programme is to raise the professional staff in this field of work for the realization of cultivation and to train the high qualified technical staff with the responsibility of energy productivity and energy saving issues.
PROGRAMME OUTCOMES
The graduate students of Technology of Alternative Sources of Energy Technology are familiar with subject fields such as Energy Systems project management, workplace practices, occupational safety, occupational health and environmental protection, Energy systems design, manufacture and operation. The students learn how to get information about energy production with biomass, to obtain information on the operation of hydroelectric power plants, and to make up parts of hydroelectric power plants. They have full knowledge of production, construction, maintenance, repair of solar panels and wind turbine, definitions regarding to construction, installation and operation of thermal power plants.
